Dhaka Dairies
DHAKA
30th March and 31st March , 2018
After spending hours the Kolkata airport for a late flight finally we boarded the flight to Dhaka It was just a 30 minute flight and our excitement could not be contained.
A few funny moments at at the Dhaka airport created by my Mom will always remain in my heart ( can'
t be shared here)
A city full of life ...... The first glimpse of the city made me feel at home. It is like India , like Bengal and what was comforting was that people her spoke Bengali. We moved through the near empty city roads ( mind you Dhaka is known for its jams ) looking at the grand foreign cars and the deplorable buses My brother lives in the posh area of Dhaka. Shopping and visiting the key places in Dhaka followed in the next two days. The Dhakeshwari Temple, from whom the city of Dhaka may have got its name, the Siddeshwari Temple where we received a grand welcome by the purohits, the 21st February place, the court ( from the saying 'Showing a Baangal the High Court'), the Haati Jheel where elephants took a bath and was liked most by my sister and things around the city. I wished to see the house Mujibar Rehman stayed in but the army would not allow us in.
All of this was accompanied by great food, mainly fish, cooked by my boudibhai.
The wait at Kolkata airport.......
With the two favourite people
The secretariat
Supreme Court
Hati r Jheel
Dadabhai's office
Siddheshwari Mandir
Ekushe February Mancha
Dhakeshwari Mandir
Durga Mandir besdie the temple
The long wait for the mandir to reopen
